Hello and welcome!
My name is Lara Newiger, and I’m a German teacher and the founder of IGA Online, an online german school where learning German feels personal, communicative, and fun.
I’ve been teaching students from all over the world for many years, so I know exactly what it feels like to start from scratch, everything sounds so new and unfamiliar!
But I also know that you can absolutely learn German step by step — and this free course is your very first step.
What you’ll learn in this free A1 German Online Course
This Free German A1 Course is designed for anyone who has never studied German before or who wants to refresh the basics.
Throughout several short modules, you will learn how to:
introduce yourself and greet others naturally
talk about your family, city, and daily routine
order food in a restaurant or buy something in a shop
understand the most common German sentence structures
and communicate confidently in everyday situations.
Each lesson includes:
clear explanations and visuals
real-life examples
slow, natural pronunciation audio
short interactive quizzes
and easy practice activities
How to use this course
You don’t need to register or pay — just bring your motivation to learn!
I recommend:
Starting with Lesson 1: Greetings and farewells 👇
Reading and listening carefully (and repeating out loud!).
Doing the interactive quiz after each lesson.
Leaving a comment with one or two of your own sentences

At IGA Online, we offer small group classes (maximum 5 students) and private lessons with a strong communicative, personalised approach.
Group courses cost €150 per month and include all materials, feedback, and a motivating learning environment.
Private lessons cost €60 per 60 minutes, it also includes all materials, feedback and a motivating learning environment, as well as flexibility and a solely focus on you.
